Do's and Don'ts of the Job Interview

Often the difference between success and failure in getting a job is the interview. This program, subtitled "Doris, Dorothy, and the Davis Drum Company", presents two separate job interview situations. It provokes classroom discussion of the good and bad points to watch for during an interview. Your students see how their behavior affects their chances. These two interview situations give very practical and valuable information to your students. (Please note that the two videos PREPARING FOR YOUR JOB INTERVIEW and DOs AND DON'Ts OF THE JOB INTERVIEW are also packaged together under the title of YOUR JOB INTERVIEW at a discounted price.)

How to Prepare a Resume

The resume is an important part of a successful job search.  Yet teenagers have two strikes against them -- a lack of job experience to put on their resume and a lack of experience in preparing a resume.  This program describes the purpose of the resume, particularly from the employer's point of view.  The exact format of the resume is not as important as the kind of information it contains -- and that it shows some organization, neatness, and good English.  This program walks your students through the process -- and gives them helpful hints on how to present specific information. Your students will feel better and will make a better impression with a resume.

Job Search Techniques

A successful job search is enhanced by knowing

  1. where to look for a job,
  2. how to present yourself,
  3. how to prepare for the interview, and
  4. following through.

This program covers all four.  This program describes places for teenagers to look for a job -- both obvious and not so obvious.  It describes how to dress and act appropriately for the job sought. It provides DO's and DONT's for the interview -- as well as sample questions which are likely during the interview.  It stresses the importance of the follow-up to let the potential employer know you are still interested.
